Has not changed from last time there 40 years ago The entrance to Castle Hotel has been altered

We had an afternoon in Castle Combe on a nice sunny day and found it to be just as we thought. Very nice.

I visited not long after the filming of Dr Doolittle with Rex Harrison Very quaint village

Famous a being the location for the filming of Doctor Doolittle and other films. Nearby is the motor racing circuit, Manor Hotel and golf course. Some lovely pubs can also be found in the surrounding villages. Handy for Chippenham, Bath and Bristol

We had always heard of Castle Combe and its reputation for being one of the most picturesque villages in England, but until recently hadn't seen it for ourselves. We're so glad we did! Just to stoll through the village, visit the church and cemetery, and have tea in the local pub...a perfect afternoon!

Loved the houses and location. Also the church with its display of film set photos from War Horse
