A must-see museum for those, who really wish to understand Stonehenge and its time frame, cultural setting and material culture (incl. golden objects!!!!). They currently prepare a new modern display section - to be opened in Autumn 2013. Only 5 min walk from Devizes market square - the staff are very nice!!!!!

We spent a well worth couple of hours going through the galleries. Well worth the £2.50. Lovely museum with lots of things to see.

Visited with three young children who enjoyed the "Foamhenge" activity and the museum trail. Most of the exhibits were in glass table cases too high for them to see though and quite a few of the activities had pieces missing or couldn't be used. Probably better for adults.

Thank you for your comments. You will have noticed that we are in the middle of a big new development. This will add a whole series of new things for children to do. I hope that you will bring the children back to see our new displays! More

Even with bits of it closed for renovation, this is well worth a visit. Wiltshire is such an interesting county, more passed-through than visited, but look beneath the surface and there is unendingly fascinating material. The chap on the desk was a bit curt, but the women who were there later were very nice and helpful. They have a few... More

Considering the small provinvial nature there was a good display of Wiltshire prehistory, putting in context the local discoverers of stonhenge and local barrows.

Travelled all the way from chippenham to get some posh envelopes from the stationery cupboard...& it was closed for lunch. So i went for a walk up town to pass the 1/2 hour wait, looking at the people & the things & noticed a remakable amount of historical buildings in a short space of time. Some of them have blue plaques telling... More

Rather too much ancient stuff for my taste, but then thre is a lot of ironn age forts etc in Wiltshire som not unexpected. Very well done. I prefer the more recent local history - showing what life was like in the 20th and 21st centuries, the beer pig and wool trade etc.. they are refurbing at the moment so... More

Spent a good two hours, looking at artefacts and reading up on local history relating to the surrounding area. A facinating time spent. Good thing the museum was nt too big otherwise could have spent the whole day there.

I spent two hours here looking around it is a very nice laid out museum, it was in an old building but it was great to walk around. The Roman section was great. It even had a metal detecting display of finds from Wiltshire.
