Strongly recommended, takes longer than you would expect from outside. Very absorbing exhibits from the early Avebury/Stonehenge artifacts to modern day. Often have very interesting lunchtime talks, watch the website for calendar. Staff are happy to help, and they now operate an Information Point with information on other local attractions and accommodation, since the closure of the TIC in the... More

This is a little way out of town but worth the trip. By 'little way' I mean a 10 min walk. The museum covers all periods from prehistory to modern times and has a room devoted to each period, for example Saxon or Roman. There is a remarkable reference library consisting of many rare and scholarly books. Be not deceived... More

As soon as I arrived in Devizes, I could tell I was going to love it here. Hidden away in Wiltshire, it's a gorgeous gem of a little town. After exploring it for a while, a few friends and I stumbled upon the Wiltshire Heritage museum, and I'm glad we did. It occupies two beautiful listed buildings, and is such,... More

The beatiful collections, the intresting exhibition (soon updated), the advanced library and the very friendly staff really made my day! Well worth skidding off the beaten track to go and see. I'm planning on going back with my daughter. Helpful, knowledgeable staff.

A designated museum of national significance, this museum is a must-see for anyone curious about the society which created Stonehenge, and much else besides - such as Romans, a really good viking gallery, and plans for new, shinier exhibitions in the future apparently. A perfect accompaniment to Stonehenge basically.
