A lovely walk! watch the boat owners struggle their way up/down the locks, great for keen photographers, plenty of wildlife opportunities with Kingfishers, Heron's and I have also spotted a Mandarin duck on one occasion. Once you have walked up or down the famous flight of locks I would also recommend a trip into the historic market town of Devizes,... More

There is a large public car-park nearby. Once on the canal path You can walk for miles in either direction, or walk into Devizes town centre in about 15 minutes. There is a lovely cafe with a great selection of food and an enclosed safe garden.

Went early April late morning. The car park and cafe are at the top and we walked down then up again. There were lots of cute ducklings and baby moor hens. It would be better in summer as there were only a few boats in the flight of locks but I imagine it would also get very busy. We had... More

Stand by the bridge at the bottom of this majestic flight and look up at the awe inspiring sight of the Caen Hill locks. And then walk up to the cafe at the top sit in the garden and reward yourself with the view over Wiltshire (and an ice cream or cup or tea).

Large new marina at the bottom then 24 locks, with 18 close togather, amazing symatry, and by hand over 200 years ago. Enjoy chatting to the boaters, and they like you leaning on the gates to help open them, its all by hand, and then the excellent canal museum and shop run by volunteers at the top. Then you are...
