With a name like Strawberry Hill you would expect it to be wishy washy and fairy like but this is a real Gothic Building . The inside did not have any furniture at the time we visited it but do not let this put you off. The tales that the guide tells you are magical and so interesting. Look out... More

Horace Walpole was a true English eccentric who had friends such as Edward Lear and lived at Strawberry Hill. This truly eccentric house with mainly Gothic, but many other styles, is outstanding and is a gem amongst many historical houses that have sold out to commercialism. The guides are incredibly knowledgeable and enthusiastic; even our young children found it fascinating.

A feast for the eyes, a delight for the mind, one of the least known sights in the London area. I can't recommend it more highly.

This is the vision Horace Walpole had when he bought a simple lodging house and converted it into a gothic fantasy. It was a tourist attraction in the 18th century and it is now after a £9 million restoration. The outside is dazzling white with towers, battlements and pinacles. Inside you move from the dark spooky hall, through the house... More

Well worth the visit. We live close by and had never really had agood look before. Walpole has a significant place in English social history. His houamong famous and it's character is largely unspoilt. Check out the visiting arrangements online and come take a look.

I love Strawberry Hill and the areas surrounding it. I was lucky enough to live in the adjoining building to Horace Walpole's gothic folly surrounded by its beautiful grounds, whilst studying at St Mary's University College. The gothic part of the building is used by the university for special lectures/presentations and recitals. It is also available as a wedding venue... More

Lovely mock gothic house once owned by Horace Walpole. This delightful house ,now leased to the Strawberry Hill Trust is a fantastic place to visit, The gallery is particularly beautiful and worth the visit on its own.there is a delightful cafe that serves a wonderful cream tea. You can only visit in small groups at set times, but this does... More
