Just received a $283 parking fine for driving from the Gold Coast to Bangalow to support the local markets and events, in the rain not to mention, with two young children.

Parking is always an issue but today more so as there is an event on at the show grounds.

Excessive parking fines for parking 1mm on a yellow line when parking is at maximum capacity.

It’s a real shame for the town and locals who surely want to encourage people to come and visit events but with limited parking, the local enforcement perhaps need yo lighten up and get on board what this area is meant to be about.

Won’t be returning for a long time!

A well set out market with many stalls with much to offer. Good to see people maximizing use of beautiful, big shady trees!

Thanks for your response. The market is getting back to pre COVID numbers. We are still operating with many COVID restrictions and safety measures but the visitor numbers are increasing. The stall numbers are a little less than usual because we are spacing them out a little more. Wet weather (luckily not on the market day so far) has meant we have also had to make changes to the market layout.

Bangalow markets are great. Lots to see and amazing choice of really good food. Markets are a must do if youre visiting the area.
I had a wander around the shops in the town...is there ANYONE who doesn't sell linen clothing ??...after the 10th shop selling linen, linen and more linen I jumped into the car and made a beeline for Byron.
If linen clothing is your thing then you've found Utpoia.
Lots of linen wearing ladies and gents...standard white linen shirts and coupled with Birkenstocks. Yawn.

This once a month Sunday flea market has a bit of everything: from hand made pottery and leather goods, to soap, to paintings, to massage therapy & oils, to spirituality consultation, & lots of food outlets. In the midst of the sprawling open air market, are musicians performing.
One can spend several hours just browsing. Although It can get uncomfortable during summer, given the rustic no frills setting.
Worth a visit.
The Bangalow Main Street (5 minutes drive away) is an attractive & affluent retail strip, with some nice cafes; & warrants a stopover

The summer heat beats most places in the tropics but a lot of the market is under cover of large camphor trees. Yes the Showground is in the centre of Bangalow so the main street is just a hundred metres from the Station St entrance to the Market.

Busy market as we were there the Sunday before Christmas, still easy to traverse.
Parking managed well and minimal walking to markets if uneven ground and on a slope.
Fantastic selection of stalls. Some hippy, many artistic, some beautiful quality. Something for everyone!
Great variety of stalls. Great amount of food options available.
Awesome coffee and great cold options!
Highly recommend!

If you can time your visit on the once a month when the markets are in Bangalow, try to do it because they are really worth it. I'm not a huge fan of markets because I generally find them all a bit 'samey' but I really enjoyed the Bangalow Markets. I loved that the Sea Shepherd has a stand there. They are really boho and you'll find a lot of hippy type produce there, so don't go if that makes you uncomfortable. I found the clothes and artworks there to be good quality and there are also some really beautiful shops just outside the markets in the streets adjacent. Its very relaxed and there is some shade amongst the big gum trees. The only thing I found was that there wasn't a huge variety of food trucks available. There were a couple but I couldn't really find anything I wanted to try to eat there, which is very unusual for me. There were some really wonderful artists who had original artworks of animals that I really loved there. I think there is a little bit of something for everyone. Most store holders take credit cards via that little credit card cube that they have now.

Great well thought out review. Thanks. There are two food areas and they cover quite a variety of food types. But you are right the a Bangalow town shops are only a street away and offer another option.

I have attended the markets, and even was a stall-holder for 4 years, and the Bangalow markets are undoubtedly the best in the region ... dare I say possibly in the country??!!!!
I give 4 stars rather than 5 only because of two reasons;
1. There is very little CHANGE over the 21 years I've been going to these markets. I would like more and varied food introduced, and less overseas-made clothing and nic naks. More local, handmade, and eclectic, and definitely more food!
2. My husband is in a wheelchair now, and finds these markets challenging to navigate around. Uneven ground, heavy crowds at time. If he were in a manual wheelchair I doubt he'd go at all. It would be hard-going pushing through!

Thanks for the detail in your comments. It is tricky trying to determine who will set up a stall at the market the mix is simply a case of who decides to do it. I understand your point about the access difficulty but one of the endearing and most liked features of the market is that it is on the slope of a hill underneath large trees and the ground is covered in leaves and not paved. (I don't have an easy solution to that). And yes it can get crowded some months, best bet is to come early or late. Your 4 stars are very much appreciated great to hear the Bangalow Market made such an impact on your life and you now live here.
