Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Belongil Beach is a picturesque beach located to the north of the town of Byron Bay in New South Wales, Australia. It offers a more tranquil and secluded atmosphere compared to the bustling beaches closer to the town center. Here's some information about Belongil Beach:
Location: Belongil Beach is situated approximately 3 kilometers (1.9 miles) north of Byron Bay's central business district. It is accessible via Bayshore Drive, which runs parallel to the beach, or by walking along the shoreline from the town center.
Natural Beauty: Belongil Beach is known for its natural beauty, with pristine sands, rolling dunes, and stunning coastal scenery. The beach is backed by lush vegetation, including coastal scrub and low-lying vegetation, creating a sense of tranquility and seclusion.
Secluded Atmosphere: Belongil Beach offers a more relaxed and less crowded experience compared to the busier beaches closer to Byron Bay's town center. It's a great spot to escape the crowds and enjoy a peaceful beach outing.
Activities: Belongil Beach provides a range of activities for visitors to enjoy. These include swimming, sunbathing, beachcombing, and picnicking. The beach's uncrowded nature makes it ideal for long walks, jogging, or simply unwinding and soaking up the sun.
Dog-Friendly: Belongil Beach is one of the dog-friendly beaches in the Byron Bay area. It allows dogs off-leash in designated areas, providing an opportunity for dog owners to enjoy the beach with their furry companions.
Surfing and Fishing: Belongil Beach offers surfable waves, particularly at the northern end near Belongil Creek. The beach is suitable for beginners and intermediate surfers. Additionally, fishing enthusiasts can try their luck from the shore or in the nearby Belongil Creek.
Amenities: While Belongil Beach is a more secluded area, it does offer some amenities for visitors. These include parking spaces along Bayshore Drive, public toilets, and access points to the beach. However, it's advisable to bring your own supplies, such as food, water, and sun protection, as there are no nearby shops or facilities.
It's important to note that Belongil Beach may have different conditions depending on the time of year, tides, and weather. It's recommended to check local surf and safety conditions before engaging in any water activities.
Belongil Beach provides a serene and less crowded beach experience, allowing visitors to enjoy the natural beauty of the area and relax in a tranquil setting. Whether you're looking for a peaceful day at the beach, a stroll along the shoreline, or a spot to take your furry friend for a walk, Belongil Beach offers a serene and scenic escape from the busier parts of Byron Bay.

We walked to this beach and it was a bit difficult to get onto the beach as the access had eroded away. The beach is great and you get great sunset views from here

Beautiful place to take the kids. The water is crystal clear and not to rough-perfect for the kids. Take a picnic and spend the day there.

Beautiful little spot. Not as busy as some of the other beaches in the area. Good to spot whales from and lovely for a nice swim.

Get away from the hustle & bustle of town, especially good now with the main beach at Byron still affected by erosion

Nice beach, went there as we have young kids and it was patrolled. There are toilets about a 5 min walk away behind the restaurant. It was a little busy between the flags due to school holidays.

This beach is better than main beach but at the time we were there it was a little bit of a washing machine. Would not be great for little kids unless they are with an adult in the water. Waves come in and go out at all different angles not straight in and out. I’m saying that we were still able to swim and enjoy ourselves. Don street is small but can park there and no cost and quick access to beach. If you stay in Childe street this is the beach you will visit. Dog beach too so if you don’t like dogs don’t go because they are always coming up to you with balls wanting you to throw them. We loved it

Hello, I have purchased an annual pass to Tyagarah beach as my wife and I have been going here for the past few years to enjoy the clothes optional beach, we went there again today, the last time we were there was last year, we noticed that there were no where near the normal amounts of nudists on this beach, however, we were situated north of the carpark, after reading some reviews I am now noticing that the it seems the only clothes optional area is south of the carpark, could I please confirm a sI really would not like to be arrested, thank you

You won't be arrested. It's amazing and if you follow the signs and are not a weirdo you will be fine. I went there with my extended hippy family in oz and all four teenage daughters from nimbin we had a great time with the nature spirits and just being naturalists.
