About
Whilst there are always market looking stalls on the main street of Nimbin, Nimbin Markets operates down and around the rainbow coloured Community Centre on Cullen street, every 4th and 5th sunday of every month. And the REAL magic occurs around the main stage, which is through the main gate of the Community Centre, and down at the back of the grounds. Our market has high morals, and we like to keep everything Handgrown, Handmade, Fair-trade, or Recycled as much as possible. So we have local produce, a variety of healers, excellent recycled and vintage wares, various unique art forms, like wool sculpting, hand crafted leather goods, artisan wood furniture, absolutely incredibly crafted bone carvings, local and organic soap, international food, a variety of unique jewellery, plants, and an amazing main stage where endless playing, jamming, and improvised magic happens between a diverse array of musicians and sound sculpturists. BUT THAT'S NOT ALL! It's the vibe, the family feel and the love that really hit the average visitor.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Nimbin Markets, nestled in New South Wales' Northern Rivers region, offer a unique cultural experience. Held on select Sundays, these markets showcase a vibrant blend of handmade crafts, artworks, vintage clothing, and organic produce. The market's charm lies in its eco-conscious, counterculture vibe, reflecting the community's values. Live music and diverse food stalls enhance the lively atmosphere. Nimbin Markets are not just shopping; they are a celebration of creativity and community, making them a must-visit for a taste of the region's distinct culture.

Great Sunday morning in Nimbin. All kinds of stalls. All kinds of people... friendly and welcoming stallholders We'd been advised no dogs allowed but well behaved leashed dogs appeared to be tolerated (there were quite a few). Lots of different stalls and goods. And several food stalls. We grabbed breakfast and drinks, sat at the tables provided and enjoyed the vibe.

Nimbin got a lot of hype recently and I see no reason why. There is really not much to do. A few quite dodgy shops and thats about it. On top of that we didn't feel safe as a family as there have been a lot of people around obviously wasted.

There are sooo many interesting places in NSW to visit, just don't fall for Nimbins hype as we did.

We visited this grubby little place today. Meant to be a hippie haven. More like a drug addled dirty dump. We went specifically for the markets expecting something alternate and different, and all we saw was someone’s unwanted rubbish. Very disappointed.
This place has loads of potential but it has sadly been let go. Sunday most of the shops closed. Didn’t see loving and hugging in fact a woman berating Gerhart in the street whilst selling weed from her bag.

It was not just a remote hamlet on the wayside but a very colourful lively village with shops having attractive murals drawn on their boards and signage that made this place definitely different to any other typical village located elsewhere. It had so many arts and craft galleries, curio shops, shops selling herbs and oils and mad hattery hats and colourful dresses for casual or easy going or to taste local produce like bees’ honey, Cafes, village style hotels, restaurants that were buzzing with patrons. It was a place to relax and unwind, enjoyed a quiet stroll across the village precinct from shop to shop, gallery to gallery seeing so much of items that were on display and offered for sale.

Attended the Nimbin Mardigrass. My stay was filled with amusement and learning, new people and new sights. Everyone should go at least once. Showground facilities good and clean. Fellow visitors can be very entertaining!! Police have a strong interest in proceedings but very friendly and willing to educate anyone their (the police) point of view. I'll go again.

We went to the Nimbin market on the last Sunday in December (30.12.2018). Don’t go to Nimbin just for the Market - you will absolutely regret it!
Drove 45 minutes to get there & thought it would be amazing, but by God what a disappointment!! There were hardly any stalls for starters & the ones who were selling things were all second hand Op Shop stuff.
There was one man who actually did make his own beautiful leather products; handbags, belts etc, but everyone else seemed to be flogging off their useless second or third hand goods - it was more Flea Market or Car Boot Stall - than creative, handmade, artistic products.

The Byron Bay Beach Market on the Wednesday was fantastic & more of what you’d come to expect from a “Market.”

The village in the mountains is known for arts and drugs and we almost got high when walking along a hemp cafe. To be honest the smell was comparable to places in Amsterdam. The villagers seem to be stuck in the seventies and appear very relaxed to me. We were on our way to another city so we did not spend much time but it let me smile.

The Sunday market in Nimbin is a great place to spend a few hours. There is always some great live music & you may even chance it to hear me singing :) I live here & this has been my town since 1992. This market is a terrific family day, although people are asked to leave their pets at home as the area is not very large. That being said, it seriously lacks nothing. The food is great, and you will be able to purchase beautiful local honey, cakes, pastries & fresh wood fired, sour dough bread that will make your mouth water. Great coffee. Great hand made gifts from a variety of materials such as glass, wood, fabric & metal. Lots of great clothes, both new & 2nd hand, and plenty to look at. I would recommend this market to everybody. And once you feel like sitting down for a coffee & more cake, why don't you cross the road & join the locals at the Oasis Cafe. I just know you will love it.
