We drove from the Lancaster area just for this tour, and it was worth it. Nice drive through farm country. Called the afternoon beforehand to reserve, and glad we did. Free samples and very kid friendly. Been on a different pretzel factory tour before, but Herr's was much better. Nothing like eating warm potato chips as they come off the... more

We drove over 2 hours to take the Herr's factory tour. We made reservations online, which was very easy and convenient. The factory itself is pretty much in no-man's land...but it's beautiful country. We were traveling north to Philadelphia and decided to visit the Herr's Factory after reading reviews of it on Trip Advisor. We made reservations in advance but our tour (in August, 2009) didn't seem to be full so you could probably walk in and get on a tour. this place was really neat. very kid friendly and interesting for adults too. call ahead and make reservations so you can be assured a place on the tour. you may have to share your tour with a daycare group or two but have fun and learn. the tour guides were all very excited and full of information. hot chip samples... more

We visited the Herr's Snack Factory on a weekday. This is a FUN stop and you can't beat the value as it is free! I've done the free Herr's tour four times. Twice in 1998, once in 2003, and now once in 2007. For the most part, it hasn't changed. The first thing to know is that although the tour is free, you should make reservations ahead of time. This can easily be done through the website or by calling the factory. Finding the... more
