This is an excellent permanent collection. I traveled with an art historian who was very impressed. The architectural room of plaster of paris artifacts was unique, and there was a great range of all periods of art. more
Spent the afternoon here exploring both the Art and Natural History museums. The art museums main contemporary art galleries were closed in early April 2009 so we were not able to enjoy those exhibits. However they had some unique special exhibits taking place at the time. My friend and I just got back from a visit. Very friendly lady gave us a map and spent quite a bit of time talking to us. This museum is absolutely wonderful. There is something here for everyone to enjoy. Their collection includes Impressionst paintings,including Monet's "Nympheas", pop art, ancient art, and currently an exibit of Ansel Adams and Georgia O'Keefe's trek through the west. This is a wonderful place to spend the day. more
