I go here to see my dad & his parents. And when I'm there I wander. It's a beautiful cemetary & there's history there. But it's just really peaceful and pretty.

I've never been one to tour cemeteries but Allegheny Cemetery is something different and unique. It is worth a visit. There are many different sculptures, gravestones, and mausoleums. You could spend hours here just exploring and be charmed with the different scenery. This is the best cemetery in Pittsburgh and photographers will enjoy capturing the different architecture and designs.

A walk around the cemetery might not be for everyone but it is very interesting. This old cemetery has lots of unusual monuments, and the setting is spectacular. The big old trees, the pond, the huge family monuments, all make you forget that you are in the middle of a city.

We've checked out a number of the classic park cemeteries in the Pittsburgh area and have found the Allegheny Cemetery located in arsenal, pa to be the most peaceful. We purchased a home last year and now decided as a family to purchase a "forever home". The Allegheny Cemetery was extremely helpful in selecting our family's resting place. The site... More

Everyone has visited at least one cemetery even it it is only because a relative is buried there, but not all cemeteries are the same. Homewood and Allegheny Cemeteries, both in the Pittsburgh area, are unique cemeteries referred to as "Victorian Garden Cemeteries". This type of cemetery was created during the 19th century as a place to permanently bury loved... More

This old cemetery has a lot of Pittsburgh's historical figures buried here. The grounds are lovely, and it's a nice place for a walk, although a bit steep in places.

Very cool place to visit if you like to stroll around and check out tombstones, crypts, statues, spires, and much more. They have a section for soldiers/military graves, which is actually pretty cool. There are some angels on statues that have started to corrode.. also very cool. Headstones from the 1800's are worn and pretty cool. A visit in the... More

This cemetery was a very interesting place to check out. There are some neat headstones to check out as you drive or stroll around. The scenery is really nice as the grounds crew does a great job.

I'm not really "into" cemeterys, but the Allegheny Cemetery is an exception. If you're looking for something cheap (free) to do on a beautiful afternoon, this is a great place to take a walk. There are some relatively famous people buried here - stephen Foster and many Pittsburgh noteables. The cemetery itself is beautiful - varied trees and plants, ponds,... More
