A wonderful neighborhood in Pittsburgh's East End with its own "downtown" that includes many Asian and other restaurants, various businesses, an excellent Carnegie library, a Jewish Community Center, churches and synagogues, a real feel of community, and lots of nice older houses and gardens.

A number of Speciallity shops, some quaint shops, very clean streets, alot of excellent restaurants ($-$$$). Not far from Frick Park, which is another "must go to!"

Squirrel Hill is a quirky little urban village - good places to eat and neat little shops. It's gone downhill a little in the last few years as rents rise and we lose our best tenants. You can still find some independent coffee houses (61 cent cafe) and restaurants (Pamela's). Prices vary. Good luck finding parking and make sure you... More

Great restaurants, great shops and entertainment. A great place to go on a date. Dinner & a movie, maybe bowling and drinks afterward. What's not to love?

I certainly recommend a drive through Squirrel Hill, if you get the chance, because there are some really beautiful residential areas and elegant houses to look at. As far as shops go, there isn't much to brag about, but there are a few nice restaurants and a lovely cinema which shows slightly more off-beat films.

Everything is within walking distance, great pizza and desserts galore! Four stars instead of five because if you waitress in this neighborhood, you'll get some cheap visitors that don't tip well. Otherwise, it's a great place to live!

This neighborhood is very trendy with university students and other hipper people. I still has a good bit of its history as a Jewish neighborhood, with many Jewish food places and a number of nearby temples and synagogues. Lots of good and cheap restaurants. I grew up in Chicago and, for my money, Mineo's Pizza (thin crust) is about the... More

Nice place to visit but not a must to visit. Charming with a few shops... but not a must. Hit the Strip, South side (south side flats, station square), mount washington, schenly park first

Great restaurants and shopping. Primarily a Jewish community, but a very diverse crowd. Neat and fun! Beautiful old homes surround a great commercial district.

Squirrel Hill is a great neighborhood. I'd recommend parking somewhere near the intersection of Forbes and Murray and walking through those two streets. There's a mostly indie movie theater, great restaurants representing many ethnicities (Zaw's is great, many bagel places), and fun shops (fair trade store, all board game store, a color me mine). It's a great destination for older... More
