This is Pittsburgh's new hockey arena and they built a jewel! Everything you expect to find here can be easily found. Not a bad seat in the house. The arena is not so large that you can't see the act on stage or action on ice. However, Pittsburgh might find the smaller size to be negative because sellouts will be... More

Paris has her Eiffel Tower, New York the Empire State, Athens has her Parthenon, Frisco the Golden Gate. . . . Pittsburgh had a splendid site, an Igloo domed in steel. Here we saw the Beatles play, the Stones and Elvis, too. Here we graduated and saw shows both old and new, After the restaurants, and before the bars, Civic... More

I'll really miss this place. It was the site of many of my fondest memories. It also seemed to give the Penguins a better home-ice advantage than the new CEC.

Attended many concerts and Hockey Games at Mellon Arena, including concerts where the roof was open. That was something to witness when the big steel roof retracted

Visited last year to see the Mellon arena in its true form. This year, however, only half of the arena is standing. They're tearing it down to build a grocery store????? Very disappointed that they couldn't find use for this amazing building!

I recommend sitting in the lower level in the club seats. its a private area with private entrance and more food choices. the seats are quite comfortable in the club area. the tickets ARE a bit pricy but worth it if u want to see a penguins game in style.

It was a great place for many years. I saw the roof open during a Beachboys concert, Penguins games, college basketball, the Wrestling Classic pitting Pennsylvania high schoolers against the best in the nation, concerts from the Four Tops to Billy Joel to the Dixie chicks. The ne Consol arean is nice, but the old "CivicArena" was unique and a... More

The rating is based more on sentimentality than actual experience. Saw my first concert at Mellon Arena (.38 Special with Bon Jovi as an opening act!), my first sporting event (Pittsburgh Spirit Soccer) and my first Pens game. The venue was pretty awful for concerts, but was awesome for sports. It will be greatly missed.
