On our recent trip to Charleston, my husband I decided to take come historic home tours. I am so glad that we chose the Nathaniel Russell House. It was absolutely wonderful. Authentic and wonderfully preserved. This house is a testiment to how historic homes should be kept. The tour of the home was outstanding and the staff was exceedingly knowledgeable.... more

Visited the Nathaniel Russell House on April 1 after Ed Grimball's walking tour. Gardens outside the home were pleasant (not as extensive as some homes). The thirty minute tour takes you thru half a dozen rooms and shows period furnishings and artwork. Our guide was well versed in the history of the house, its family and the running of the... more

My family and I really enjoyed touring this house. We bought the combo ticket to tour this one and the Aiken-Rhett house for $16. It was definitely worth the money but my favorite was the well preserved Aiken-Rhett house. I would definitely recommend both though....this one is 30 minutes with an actual person as the guide and the Aiken-Rhett house... more

We bought the Heritage Passport at the Visitor's Center & took 3 downtown house tours, this was by far the best. The gardens are beautiful & once inside we found none of the stuffiness that you sometimes experience - tourists being at best tolerated for the dollars they bring in. We gave this an average rating because we're averaging the attributes of the house with the actual guided tour. Once we began the tour we felt a little bit like we were being treated as if we were going to damage something. We can appreciate that they don't want people touching anything, but it is taken to such an extreme... more

Went to Charleston for a weekend trip, I love to tour historic places and houses. Although not as thourough as some I have been to, this was time well spent. the guides were nice, the price was right, and the walk to there from Market Street was ver nice as well. more

I am not a history buff but I enjoyed learning about the architecture of the home and getting a glimpse into what life was like in that era. Time well-spent. more

We really enjoyed our tour of the NR house. The gardens are beautiful as is the house and it's furnishings (the paint colors and moldings are crazy beautiful). Our guide was VERY knowledgeable too. I would definitely recommend it for history buffs! more
