It was slow when we went so got a private tour. The guide was very knowledgable and informative and the collection is impressive. It is almost all uniforms (as my son pointed out) but there are some neat weapons as well and after all - being a military history museum, what would you expect. Glad we popped in.

The 'museum' equivalent of a bad hotdog street vendor. It survives only by proximity to the SC Aquarium. After 10 minutes you will have seen everything, realizing you've wasted your time and money.

Loved all the old uniforms and things that showed us how it used to be. Glad people thought to save these things and put them on display for us.

My buddy and I went in here while waiting for the ft sumter boat. He is an active duty marine and was able to get in for free, but admission is priced fairly low. 7.00 for vets and students and 9.00 for general admission. Filled with old uniforms and memorabilia. The highlight was the display of marine uniforms from the... More

This museum has so many one-of-a-kind items that I couldn't try to name them all -- from the Revolutionary War to present day. They really care about vets. They make everyone feel so welcome and are genuinely appreciative of those who have (and are) defending our country AS WELL AS their families. Well worth a visit and many returns.

This is a great little museum. You kinda need to know about the military to fully get the experience so you can know what type of uniforms they are, but overall this is an incredible museum and value.

This place was a great place to visit. I really enjoyed looking at all the uniforms and feeling like I'm looking at the people who wore those uniforms througout our history. I wish there was just more to read about the uniforms though. There was very little to read at this place, other than what war and country the uniforms... More

This museum is a perfect example of one of those wonderfully enjoyable small museums you stumble across unexpectedly. I'm a military history buff and I've toured museums both large and small across the US and Europe, and I rate this one highly. For anyone interested in military uniforms, the American Military Museum is a must see. The uniform collection is... More

We visited this museum while in Charleston (only for a day) and I was glad we stopped by. No one in my immediate family is current or previous military, but the exhibits kept our attention and were very nicely displayed. We expected to stay the afternoon, but were through the entire museum in about 2 hours. Price was extremely reasonable.

The title says it. This is a reasonably priced attraction for those who are interested in military history, particularly veterans. I am a retired U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer, so I found the place very interesting, but I really don't think those who have never served would find anything interesting here. This is a military uniform collection only, and there... More
