The State Museum has multiple floors of interesting and varied exhibits. The hands-on science area is a hit with kids. There are also vibrant exhibits of living and culture in previous times that provide neat conversation points. The State Museum is absolutely one of the best museums I have ever visited. They have a wonderful display that chronicles the natural history of South Carolina as well as telling the story of the people that call South Carolina home. The South Carolina State Museum was once a place of business, now restored, some orginal mill artifacts still remain. The museum offers an excellent insight into South Carolina's past with fun, entertaining activities for people of all ages. Our five children, ages 2 through 8, all had a wonderful time.
