I like Revolutionary War history, and this is a good place for that, especially on the weekend they re-enact the local battle. It is also interesting to see where much of the movie "The Patriot" was filmed.

Historic Brattonsville is a top-notch living history museum. The Bratton family, of Scotch-Irish descent, settled and was prominent in York County over decades. Brattonsville is a unique historic gem. The structures on the property span 3 centuries from the frontier days to the early 20th century. A great family day trip. Make the Battle of Huck's Defeat or the Candlelight Christmas event if you can.

We went during Dec. when they tell the story of how Christmas was celebrated during the history of the house. It is a walking tour by latern light. May want to carry your own flashlight and dress warmly. Hot cocoa and goodies sold at the end of the tour. Have been several times it was so enjoyable.
