It was only after spending $17.50 per person that we found out that Boone Hall is not an authentic plantation. The home was built in 1935 and only the ground floor (living room, dining room, hallway, piazza and gentlemen's room) is open for tours - 1/2 hour tops. Then you can get on a tram and take a tour of... more

Boone Hall is a great day out. The reconstructed plantation house very interesting (the tour guide we had was great though I would say there were too many people on our tour and parents should resist the urge to take their children on this), but there is so much to do. I particularly enjoyed seeing actual slave cabins that have... more

The Avenue of the Oaks (88 oak trees!) cannot be seen for free. You must pay the $17.50 admission. While that includes a "tour" of the Boone Hall plantation, the rest of the grounds are a huge disappointment. The "house tour" consists of only the very bottom floor, since the top floor is a private residence of the owner. Also,... more

Very friendly and informative staff. The Gulla presentation was worth the admission price alone ! Main house was not built until 1930s.The Oak tree drive is magnificent more

The long, tree-lined drive leading up to the plantation house is, of course, beautiful; however, I was not impressed with the house tour or the guide. On the other hand, I found the self-guided tour of the slave cabins to be highly educational and well worth the admission price to the plantation! I highly recommend wearing walking shoes. One could... more

The only negative experience in a month-long tour of the Southeast was Boone Hall Plantation in Mount Pleasant, SC. Given that they bill themselves as one of our oldest working plantations, we were extremely disappointed in our visit. After paying the modest entrance fee of $17.50 each we were told that the Plantation Tram Tour was not going to take... more

Don't waste your adult cost of admission (a steep $17.50) if you have your kids with you...there are other plantations that are lovelier and have a lot more to do (for the whole family) and cost less (try Magnolia or Middleton Plantation). It is not as well run or maintained and the staff is a lot less professional. You can't... more

We bought a tour package, which included Boone Hall Plantation and the Charleston Harbor Tour. The plantation included a tram tour, a few self -guided walking tours, a 1 man outdoor play by Mr. Murray and a mansion tour. The tram driver, Mike, was fantastic...very knowledgeable and entertaining. The walking tours take you through actual slaves quarters as well as... more

I disagree with anyone who thinks this was not worth the $17 dollars to get into! It was so beautiful and has such amazing history. All of the staff was very friendly and up on their history! Very beautiful, its a must see!! more

A visit to Boone Hall Plantation will not disappoint young and old alike! A beautiful mansion tour and grounds tour is only part of this special day-trip. Presentations to assist in teaching culture and history, and a self-guided tour through a historic time line. If you are a history buff or just hoping to enrich your depth of history, this... more
