If you plan on spending a day in Rapid City, I would recommend Chapel in the Hills. Although the Chapel may be more appealing to those 40, or even 50+, we are a young couple with young children and we found it to be very pleasant. We've seen pictures of the Chapel in the Hills and decided to visit. Our only disappointment was how run down it seemed. It's beautifully carved out of wood but the wood isn't preserved so it's cracking and getting worn out - reminded me more of an old log cabin. It was still neat to see - especially the info/gift shop... more

If you are visiting the Black Hills on a budget, this is a definate must see. Located in the western part of Rapid City, it tends to be quieter than most tourists attractions as well. If you are interested in old Europe it is worth it as well. more
