This is a must see Plantation. This is where the soldiers that were wounded were taken care of. We heard stories about the young lady that opened their home to these soldiers and personally attended to them during their time of need. This was my third time touring Carnton and I learn something new every time. I definitely recommend touring the Carnton Plantation along with the Lotz House and Carter House. The tour brings the Battle of Franklin and the aftermath alive. It is hard to imagine what went on during and after the battle at the plantation.

The tour of the manor house took about an hour, and the guide was informative and engaging. Maybe a little bit pricey for the time we spent, but maintaining history has a price.

This house was at the confederate side of the Franklin Civil war battle and served as a hospital for the confederate army complete still with blood stains in the floor from the surgeries. Mrs. McGavock(mistress of the house) helped take care of the wounded many of whom stayed for several weeks.
