The grounds and the mansion are extensive. In addition there is a museum and a video. Also on the grounds is the Tulip mansion which can be toured as well. Please be sure and get the headsets so you can listen to the many detailed descriptions of Andrew Jackson's life, the mansion and his wife rachael. Each stop is clearly... More

Unlike some other historical sites, The Hermitage has been in a state of continuous preservation since Andrew Jackson himself lived there. The headphones and recorded guide given at no extra charge were an ideal way to do just that. Plus the people in period costume gave snippets of info when touring the house. The Hermitage was... The home was beautiful. The tour guides are very knowledgeable. Loved the carriage ride around the plantation with all the information that came with it. Its a very informative, sobering and interesting look.

nice place, very helpful staff, lots of pre civil was history here of our 7th President- a giant of a man and a flawed character in some ways with a sad personal life...Estate is well curated and explained, very sensitive to the slavery issue in its presentation...

A must see for Nashville visitors. Great history, beautiful grounds, ranks right up there with Monticello. Was surprised at how large the Hermitage is and all the stories shared about General Jackson. You will enjoy

It was very interesting. Allow at least 2 hours. Wagon tours are available...a fun way to cover more of the grounds on this rambling 1,200+ acre "farm",

The Hermitage is delightful to visit. The audio tour is FREE! The tour guides at the house are so good. Interesting that so many things were painted differently. The columns of the house are made of wood but had sand mixed in with the paint to portray stone. Going to places like this makes you know that history isn't boring... More

Beautifully restored house and grounds, very historic regardless of your opinion of Andrew Jackson, way more to see than our tour time allowed, had only two hours, need at least four to see everything, good educational experience for kids.
