A great way to pass away an hour in bad weather (or good weather) informative tour guides, lovely visitor centre and shop and great value for money at £2.50.

You only need to tour one distillery, and this should be the one. Well run tour which ends in the tasting room next to the gift shop...who could resist?

We had a tour for £2.50 each which included a wee dram. When we went in off season (feb) we had a private tour and the tour guide was very informative and answered all our questions.

Our gold standard for distillery tours are Edradour and Highland Park. This was worth a bronze. Highly automated, lots of stainless steel and computers, wonderfully slick visitor center and video introduction. I did learn that emphasis is on the second syllable, not the third.

My husband and I took the tour which lasted some 45 minutes and was followed by a tasting. The tour was very informative, (even if you don't like whisky like me) and the guide knew her stuff, she was happy to answer any questions as we went along and gave a lively account.

As a person newly introduced to whisky, I was apprehensive of how interesting a distillery tour would be. I was pleasantly surprised. The tour was short but informative and the smells alone were worth it. The tasting also added to the value if the tour which only cost £2.50. The store is also a must visit.

We were too late for the tour but took our time in the shops. They said they get very busy for tours and recommend booking in advance. The building itself is amazing and all the ladies in the shop were fabulous
