We did the high-end tour at Bowmore and it was the very best of 16 on this trip. We went everywhere, including into and walking about in the malted barley as it was drying (I smelled like peat for days - yum). Tasted directly from casks in the warehouse as well. Plus the don't care where you take pics! Pay... More

They actually gave us a private tour on our wedding day! After the "wee drams" we were a merry wedding couple indeed!

We stopped by the Bowmore Distillery Visitor Center on the first day of our recent trip to Islay. Things started well as, before we went in, we wanted to go on the jetty and take a photograph of the iconic Bowmore distillery wall as seen from the sea. Someone from inside the visitor center came out and took us to... More

3 persons were working. Noone were interested in helping or selling. A terrible experience at a distillery that produces my favourite whisky, Mariner

Unfortunately we were too late to get on the last tour of the day but the staff were really helpful, giving us a dram and setting up the video for us to watch. Definitely one we will be going back to on a proper tour.

Great tour of the distillery and even better is staying in one of the fabulous cottages. Perfect for a relaxing break, clean and comfortable. Staff all very pleasant, friendly and helpful.

We did four whisky tours on Islay. After a while you become used to the experience, process and language. This was the best we did partly because we had a wonderful guide, Lynda, and partly because it is a little different to the others. Getting to see the malting of the barley and then wade ankle deep in it in... More

Visited Bowmore while staying in village. Very knowledgeable staff, very good tour. Got to sample quite a few drams - real eye-opener for the novice. Visitor centre recently done up, very well done and fantastic views over Loch indal. Well worth a visit.
