This was a great tour - I think people who rate it lower do the standard one whereas you need to do the high-end version. It cost more but well worth the $. We tasted directly from several casks.

liked it all, great whiskey and informative staff. Loved the tasting room!!
Beatuiful setting, good informative tour around by knowledgable and friendly staff. Good dram afterwards and a complimentery glass. Only downside is that photos not allowed in some areas.
I was disappointed in the tour at Lagavulin as it is my favourite widely available malt. The tour was very basic despite the excellent technical knowledge of the young lady who was the guide. It seems diageo only do very standardised and cursory tours based on the tours I did at Talisker and Dalwhinnie.

Had a tasting here rather than a tour. Really well done and lovely staff - thanks Marjorie & Ruth. Relaxed and informative, great way to learn the different expressions and ages.
We enjoyed a tour of Lagavulin earlier this week. Our guide, (Ruth I think) was very informative. As we are both very proud Scots it was really great to be shown around this wonderful distillery by a local, who spoke to us with great passion and enthusiasm for the topic. It was also great to hear the correct pronunciations of...

Our tour was made special by our guide. For someone so young she was passionate about whisky and so knowledgeable regardings it production.
I really love Lagavulin, so it was a visit of my dream :-) We've tried some special editions that can be found only there It was also interesting to try "lagavulin beer" - the drink that they get before distillation After tasting we had nice sightseeing walk back to Port Ellen - it is quite close
We took the regular tour followed by the warehouse tasting tour. The warehouse tasting tour was not only educational, but fun (with many opportunities to sample different ages of Scotch)
Full production was going on. Tour included detail information of the peat and the view to the oven as well as tasting of "Lagavulin beer". In addition to nice drams a complimentary tour glass. Part of the Friends of Classic malts. Joining and paying for the tour in Oban you got a free entry.
