The house is well worth a visit so take the guided tour. It is a revelation when you hear the story unfold from your guide and get a first hand experience of the history of the innovative Stuarts and Rothesay island. The most impressive house we have visited the gardens are great only dissapointment was we could not see certain parts of the house.

Paid for the guided tour £23 for two which gives 1hr tour of house ans unlimited access to walks and gardens. The house is amazing so much beauty and history u must visit to appreciate and very good guides. We spent 6 hours in total and could have stayed longer time permitting. It was the first day of opening, service in the restaurant was terrible, we missed the guided tour of the house and decided not to wait over an hour for the next one.

Built - and cared for - with so much attention to detail, that we were overwhelmed with all the lovely impressions of marble, couloured glass, carvings and light... Loved it!
