I believe this must be one of the best collections in Memphis. And what a pleasant surprise to find something like this in a basement of an office building. My primary comment is that there is SO much that you are at servious risk of hitting overload. There must be 100's of pieces -- jade, ivory, you name it. There... more
A relative recommended while we were here on vacation. A must see.... the Asian art is so intricate and awe-inspiring.... huge detailed jade sculptures (varied colors and types of jade), such as boats, carriages, horses, lions, villages, etc. We loved it, and my mom loved the gift shop. The Judaic side, a smaller exhibit down the hall, was also great.... more
The Belz Museum at 119 South Main St. in downtown Memphis has hundreds of beautiful pieces of Chinese Art in jade, ivory, stones, cloisonne. In addition, there is historic and contemporary art from the Judaic Art World. A must see in Memphis. Plan on at least 2-3 hours to cover the whole museum. more
