I have been to several zoos around the US and Memphis can be proud of this one. If you have the time and have your children, by all means, see this one.

For Native Memphian's & Tourist Take The Family out to the Zoo Eat Lunch and Explore!
Our daughter never tires of the zoo....and we enjoy taking her. Have lunch in the cathouse cafe where the monkeys will press there face against the windows and watch you eat. Endless laughs. The farm petting zoo exhibit is a great experience, too. Includes a "must do" train ride for the Thomas fans in the family on a miniature replica...

The zoo is wonderful. It offers many opportunities to view the animals outdoors, but also there are indoor exhibits too. I have been a member for several years now and always get my money's worth.
the zoo is full of plants and trees that make it very relaxing. the variety of animals is extensive

Upon our visit, we encountered some Panda's; a male and female that were on loan from China. Not a better site could have been had.The coolest bears one has yet to see. We almost wanted to ask the Zoo Administrator's...

My favorite was the night creatures exhibit, esp. with the free flight bats habitat. So very cool to see them flying, interacting, eating, sleeping.
The Memphis Zoo is only 1 of 5 in the country with Pandas. But the zoo is much more than just the bears. The animals are housed in natural landscapes in different named areas of the zoo, such as Cat Country and the Northwest Passage. The only dislike is that it gets pricey with a family.
I've been going to this zoo for many years (when it was free). I now enjoy taking my granddaughter to see it. It has been upgraded some years back & it is well kept & not too smelly for a zoo, even in hot weather. My granddaughter really enjoys the parakeets , if you can get them on the feedstick...
