This estate and its grounds are a lovely and fascinating destination for adults but children may be disappointed that it isn't really a "castle" at all. In fact, there is probably very little that will interest them except perhaps the overly-demonstrative peacock. The docents are willing to chat, so ask away. The gardens feature many varieties of beautifully sculpted apple... More

We took a picnic on a hot sunny day and had a lovely relaxing time. The grounds are vast with lots of slopes and steps with so many beautiful plants and flowers. Don't forget to take your camera and some change for some ice creams from the tea room!

A real castle, red sandstone standing overlooking the town of Welshpool and the borderlands. The home of Clive of India and the Lords of Powis. fantastic gardens, shop, cafe, tea shop, garden shop, plenty of parking including disabled. The park is great for walks and if you are lucky the deer will be around.

I visited with my Husband and 9 year old daughter. This is a beautiful castle and the gardens are amazing, we will definately visit again. We toured the house and there is a fantastic little museum dedicated to Clive of India, with items that he brought back, the lady manning that part of the building was knowledgable and very pleasant.

A stately home more than a castle so dont let the title misguide you but this place is excerllent with splendid rooms to look around with each room having an advisor to tell you information about the exhibits, the only downside is you carn't gain full access into some rooms due to the barries in place and you just wonder... A stunning terraced garden that is beautifully maintained by the National Trust. Our first visit as a member and certainly won't be the last.

Castle and gardens were fantastic. Food at the restaurant not fantastic. I think when I go to bed tonite and turn out the lights, I shall see my pasta and a tiny little bit of salmon SMOTHERED with gobs and gobs of yucky pasty white melted cheeze. I shall see it starting at me, and I shall scream! Cost 6.95,... More

Weather was a bit dull when we visited but it didn't put a downer on our visit. The gardens were lovely to wander through and the daffodil field was almost in full bloom too. Stopped for a picnic before going around the house and Clive museum etc. Wonderful rooms although you can't take photos anywhere inside due to preservation and... More

These wonderful gardens are beautifully tended and an absolute joy to walk around. This is a large terraced garden and there are a number of steep steps, however, there are alternative paths that avoid the steps to reach the lower levels. The views from the upper levels of the garden are magnificent - you can see for miles into the... More
