Very pleasant layout and landscaping, nice view of the city skyline and the Cumberland River. Nice history-walk.

We were visting and went to this stately limestone building overlooking Nashville. You can do a self guided tour covering the history, design and art work in the building. Impressive chandeliers. The legislature was in session so we could not visit every room but what we saw was very interesting. President Polk's tomb is on the east lawn, as well... More

Basically only the second floor is visited. You can get a guided tour but we came late and the gardian was nice enough to let us through to spend 10min looking around. You will see the major political chambers were all the decisions for the state are made. We did not learn much but the building is very nice to... More

This was the first of six State Capitols that I visited on a recent trip to the US. It was probably the least interesting. Sorry Tennessee, your Capitol isn't all that! Definitely one to do to tick off the list though. Just don't worry about making a lot of time for it in your schedule.

If you want a piece of history this is the place to go not only is this the home of the state capitol but it is also the sight of many fights during wars. The building also has the two people who designed it buried in it's walls. The sight is at least worth a visit if your from out... More

If you live in Tennessee, I would say it would be worth it to take a tour of your state's Capitol building. If you live in another state, I can't say that I would recommend this tour. In my personal opinion, the building is not particularly beautiful, but if you are interested in Tennessee state history or if you are... More
