Not only an important cultural focal point for the city of Nashville, it is also a significant architectural structure, occupying one of Nashville’s great historic landmarks, the former main post office. Constructed from 1933 to 1934 under the direction of the local architectural firm of Marr & Holman, it displays both of the most distinctive architectural styles of the period: Classicism and Art Deco. « less

We have been going to the Frist Center once or twice a year since it opened and we are never disappointed. It is in an art deco building that used to be the main post office for downtown Nashville. It is worth a visit just for the architecture as it is a good example of this style. The preservation is... More

Cool vibe inside this Depression Era building project. Held an event in one of the meeting rooms and have a wonderful event. The staff was extremely helpful and professional. Thank you Karen!

And they're free. It's always a great place to walk around and see the new exhibit.

I have been to the Frist Center for Visual Arts many times over the years, and have always enjoyed my visits. I've seen the impressionist exhibit, the Egyptian exhibit, and the Monsters and Fairy Tales exhibit. I found the collections to be very thoughtfully assembled and interesting. Those looking for an experience like the Museum of Modern Art in New... More

We really wanted to spend the day exploring the museum, but unfortunately we hit a period of changing exhibits that only left one gallery open. They had a half-price ticket deal going and I was glad they did. The building is a piece of art in itself and we had a good time looking at the architecture. We will return... More

I went there so excited and paid to get in.... kinda expensive.... for a little more than a hallway. Not a huge place like the outside would suggest.

The building is part of the experience, loved the art deco space. An interesting, accessible collection. The current exhibit on Monsters and Fairytales is a little freaky out there, but I appreciate a gallery in a smaller market taking on some real post-modern stuff.

It's great to have an art museum in music city that doesn't have the pretentious nature of some of the other art galleries in the nation. I dig it.

The museum is a little on the small side but its some wonderful collection of various types of arts. The "Monster" artwork upsides is definitely something worth looking at. Take a stab at interpreting the artwork before you read about it.
