I visited this past weekend the Hermitage. On first arrival, I wasn’t expecting to see very historic grounds. It all seemed more modern with a paved parking lot, as I couldn’t see the home or any other historic interests. I was worried it was just going to be a house and that was it, but I was wrong. There is... more

Great place to visit-like the other posters mentioned. I loved learning about Andrew Jackson-who knew he was so interesting. The house has such beautiful murals and worth taking a closer look. Our tour guide was amazing in the main house and gave us additional information when asked. So ask questions they are excited to share! more

I honestly can't add much to the previous informative reviews. There definitely is much to see at The Hermitage and it's very well organized and user-friendly. My kids, 7 and 8 years old, didn't enjoy it as much as all the adults in our group. But at their age they haven't learned a lot about U.S. history. One thing I... more

Excellent self-guided walking tour of the grounds (farm, slave quarters, Jackson's original home, outbuildings, etc.) Tour of house is fascinating. Period-costumed guides are well-informed and helpful. Very interesting historically--pre Civil-war history. Well worth the time & $. Nice museum shop. more

Coming from UK, we really only knew a little about President Jackson, but we learned heaps during the afternoon we spent at The Hermitage. After we watched a short film, it was easy to walk through the grounds to the house with the map provided. The grounds are beautifully maintained. At the house we were greeted by folk in costume... more

I had always wanted to visit here, and being a history major itw as quite exciting! It was better then expected. The grounds are big and beautiful, clean and well kept. The staff at the center were friendly, and we watched the film and made our way to the house. We guided ourselves with easy walking pathways and a nice... more

People dressed in period costumes show you the house. They have a landscape or yard tour and a garden tour which is free, but check on times for the garden tour when you purchase your tickets. There is also a horse-drawn wagon ride for $7 extra which we thoroughly enjoyed and were glad we took as the driver explains all... more

If you are a history buff, you will love the Hermitage. Convenient access from the interstate and there is ample parking at the site. Beautifully restored interiors and a knowledgeable guide make for a wonderful tour. You start at the visitor center with a short film on Jackson, his life and presidency. Then it is a short walk to the... more
