This is a nature made lake made from a huge earthquake years ago. The cypress trees are unusual from the rest of West TN. Great camping and fishing here. People come from states around to fish for catfish, crappie, and brim fish. Eagles fly and nest here at certain times of the year. The first weekend in October is a... More

It serves it's purpose if you like camping, duck hunting or fishing. Basically there are three catfish restaurants, a gas station, and a large, swampy, pond-like lake.

We visited Reelfoot Lake in Feb 07. We took our family to go on an Eagle Tour and it was very nice. The Park has lots of stuff to do year round. While we were there we went to the visitors center on a Saturday afternoon. They had a nice museum about the are and the kids loved the "Hands... More

Reelfoot Lake has to be the best, well maybe the only, lake in west Tennessee of any notable size. A two hour drive from Memphis, we went there for a nice three day weekend. We stayed at the main campground which was beautiful. The bathhouses were very clean as well as the rest of the grounds. It had limited Lake... More

No worries, the drive there will take you through some charming small towns (the real endangered species) complete with town squares with historical and beautifully... More

Living only 25 miles from Reelfoot Lake, I have been around the lake all my life. Over the years, I have seen many improvements to the state park at the lake, which can make for a great family outing. The Reelfoot Lake State Park gives access to the lake that was created by huge earthquakes in the winter of 1811-12.... More
