Tells the story of the Cherokee Seqoyah who invented written language for the Cherokee, no tribes wrote the history of what had happened to them,it was all a passed on from Shaman to Shaman, the words could not be written in english easily. Sequoyah, invented characters and taught it to others.
whether or not you are interested in the american indian , you should give this place I try . the first native american alphabet is featured here
it was very interesting to learn the culture and accomplishments of the this man and his people
The Sequoyah Birthplace Museum is just down the road from Ft. Loudoun. The staff is very gracious and the site itself is beautiful. The story of Sequoyah is truly compelling. You must make this a stop on your trip in Tennessee.
Its a museum and informative, but it could use some upgrading of facilities.. It can fill your day as a compliment to Fort Loudon State Park but not much of a headlining attraction. Worth the visit but you could get the same from a PBS documentary
