While visiting Dallas for a tradeshow it was recommended that I visit the West End Historic District. What I saw was the standard fare of establishments that occupy gentrified areas. Though the number of different establishments was pretty sparse and the major foot-hold, the West End Market was mostly vacant and closed soon after. The atmosphere was thin and where... more

First of all, don't go for the shopping. The "West End Market Place" closed in 2006, and the only stores left sell loads of tourist-y t-shirts, magnets, leather belts, and other stuff that pretty much no one needs. This is the place to go to eat dinner. There are many restaurants available for every taste. My whole group from the conference went there and everybody could find something they could eat. Warning: there is no real shopping available. It will not take you long to see all the shops. more
