This place is great even when it's hot outside--the trees will cover you.

They were advertising sizzling snakes display but there was only 1 snake as the other snakes were tired from being on display. There was a small display of other reptiles that the kids enjoyed. Then we went on a short hike to see 5 prairie dogs - but were too far away to see much of them. Then we went... More

We took our dogs on the Capstone trail which has some nice views of the Trinity River. We also took a short trail that was wheelchair accessible. There was a mix of sun and shade on both trails. It's a good place to spend a couple hours.

Offering a wide variety of terrains, habitats, and activities in a relatively small area, this city nature preserve offers the best place to enjoy the outdoors in Tarrant County. The parks headquarters offers information concerning the local flora and fauna, but the trail system combined with the wetlands offer many glimpses of these species in the wild. Different trails showcase... More

Our family of 5 visited the FWNCR and had a great time. The staff was very knowlegable and made our search for butterflies very interesting. We are going back to earn some badges for Girl Scouts!
