The Park in general has a great outdoor shower system, benches for picnics, and 2 restrooms. But the drive is much further and their isn't much for the kids to do. There were no trails like the other reviews posted. There is a five dollar fee for each adult and the parking is really far from the picnic tables so... More

We like the state park. We have a yearly pass and support the state park system. We are happy they are working to get back to where they were before the hurricane. The beach is pretty clean and their are picnic tables and grills for families. They need more bathrooms which are only two along with port-a-potties. They have outdoor... More

GISP is a relatively pristene natural area, Galveston Island as it once was, that was very near our Silverlead Resort lodging. We especially enjoyed the nature walk and the kids love it all from small bugs to wide wingspread birds!

Galveston is not known for having pristine beaches, so dont expect white sand or blue water. The beach at Galveston Island State Park is mostly clean except for seaweed and driftwood, which is a natural part of the beach. It is much cleaner and more family friendly than the east end or the seawall. The staff does a great job... More

Most people go for the beach, but the bay side of the park is beautiful and has amazing sunsets!

the park is great for bird watching, long walks on the shore and spending good time outdoor. Don't forget sunglasses and a hat since there are tall trees for shade.

We stopped by to check out the campgrounds for a future trip. We have a texas Parks and Wildlife pass. We knew that it was free for us to go in and we parked and check out the beach which by the way is full of sea trash. So not as clean and beautiful or as enjoyable as the public... More

Hurricane Ike in 2007 took out a lot of the camping area at this park. But being so much smaller means it's a lot more peaceful. There are still three camping sections along the gulf (each section now has only about 11 sites for Rv's). I would have given the park a 5/5 star rating, but there is only a... More
