I would only do it on a week DAY because it will be too hard to get back across by car on the week end. Or park in the parkinglot and just take your popcorn and walk aboard. It is free. Be sure to not drop your sun glasses, watch and cell phone overboard. There are holes in the botton... More

I went 2 different times in 2 consecutive days 05/24 & 05/25. The 2nd day we went during the day and I got to see 3 dolphins swim past! I was fascinated with the seagulls and pelicans. I got quite a few pictures, during the day the cars are packed a bit tight and it was hard to walk between... More

Free can't be beat. Saw dolphins and the Port Bolivar Lighthouse. Feed the seagulls from the back and they will eat out of your hand!

I love the free ferry from Galveston to Bolivar, and the restrooms at the landing are clean and air-conditioned. This week I saw the rare frigate birds overhead as well as a porpoise that jumped almost completely out of the water. It is well ran, and off tourist season, the flow of traffic is very smooth.

We took the ferry to Crystal beach on a Monday - great because there was almost no wait to get on... Crystal Beach was lovely and the ride back was refreshing. Nice views and we loved looking for dolphins and watching the pelicans and seagulls fly by.

When driving west along I-10 from Baton Rouge, we exited I-10 at Winnie, TX. Then going south and then along the Bolivar Pennisula, we took the ferry to Galveston. It was much more fun ans far less stressful than driving around Galveston Bay.

Amazing journey onto an island which was so devastated by IKE but still somehow barely exists The WW II FORT we attempted to tour is now closed unfort. If I could I would stay on this ferry all day what an amazing view, saw dolphins ,sunset ,and can.t wait to return !

I love riding the ferry to Bolivar. As a kid I remember sitting in line and then once we were finally one we always fed the seaguls. It's a fun little addition to visiting Galveston.

It's a ferry, and it's free. It's great for views of the bay, in which you may even see dolphins, a wrecked barge, and other ships. For families with kids, it's a must.

Sometimes you will see dolphins,Just walk on and head to the top deck and cool off with the breeze while you head across the bay.
