Peckerwood Garden is the private garden of John G. Fairy, who is responsible for introducing a wide range of rare, native plants from Mexico to an American audience. It is open to the public during specific weekends. They give guided tours and have a small nursery of plants that are not available in normal garden stores.

Peckerwood Garden is an amazing example of what can be done with Texas pastureland. The 20 acre garden is filled with trees, green and flowing vegetation along with cactus and water treatments. The place is peaceful and beautiful. Our tour guide was very informative and be bought plants to take home. Well worth the trip to Hempstead, Texas.
