This is a neat way to spend a couple of hours learning about the history of embalming as well as viewing a most impressive array of funeral vehicles ranging from the early horse drawn variety to the modern sleek hearses. A number of the earlier motorized hearses are in themselves worth a visit. There is also an extensive section dealing... More

While several in my group were uncertain if they wanted to attend this outing, they were all glad they did. Many went back the next day to take their husbands. Initially i thought it was a small museum, but boy was i wrong. You could spend several hours here if you stopped and read everything. Really beautiful hearses, some horsedrawn,... More

NEVER would have thought I'd have been this impressed! Highly recommend seeing this very well put together museum. Well worth the admission and if you read the exhibit displays like I do it'll take about 2-3 hrs to see. Enjoy! (Our teenagers liked it too!!)

Who would have thought that a place like this was near Houston. We have been to London, Paris, Rome, Egypt, etc........and I enjoyed this place just as much as many attractions I have spent a lot of money to get to. We took a couple of 3rd graders and they liked it also.

I really enjoyed the displays. They have an awesome classic care collection, including the hears that Princess Grace Kelly took her final ride in. Additionally they have a great celebrity death display, and an area dedicated to the death rituals involving the Pope. There are a ton of cool things to be seen. From the timeline of embalming (think Egypt),... More

I've lived in Houston a long time and have seen that sign to the Funeral Museum and thought "Why?". I was with some children who wanted to go there so figured I could survive the tour. I was expecting cheesiness but was very pleasantly surprised. The museum was interesting minus the cheese. Open and well laid out (no pun intended)... More

Really good information on an industry many would like to forget, until you need their services. Gives information on the funerary practices from around the world and through the ages.

See the hearse that carried JFK. So much to see. Spend a half day just probing history and events. Very well done. Compact. A cool quiet place for those hot summers!

This museum features interesting displays of hearses, funeral garb and caskets used since the 1800's. It is all tastefully done and quite informative. There are also displays about embalming and other practices related to how cultures handle the dead. There is an entire section devoted to Papal traditions. The staff was friendly and welcoming. I would return.
