If you're interessted in taking some "time off" and get to know the legal system, this would be the perfect thing to visit. We stayed here for a couple of hours, and it was very instructive information.

This is a museum that you should not pass up. It is one of a kind attraction and I think that anyone would be intrigued to spend several hours looking over the exhibits.
There is a short video as to the history of the system along with models of various facilities- and those are the boring things.

Visited this museum in July of 2010. Very nice small museum. Priceless pictures of kids in "jail"! Sparky is scary and cool at the same time.
Interesting musuem with cheap entry price. Lots to read but some good information on the penal system in Texas. Exhibits of Bonnei and Clyde artefacts and an electric chair. You can also got a phot insied your own prison cell. Worth a stop if you're passing or in the area.
Pretty interesting if you are up for lots of reading. Numerous exhibits, lots of history.
Good exhibits. It was especially interesting to see the things prisoners made with or without permission. The Bonnie and Clyde relationship was interesting. The tie to the death penalty (and an actual electric chair) gave me the creeps. How many people were killed here?
Everything you ever wanted to know about about the Texas Prison System. The musuem was extremely interesting and very well laid out. The displays were informative and easy to read. Sometimes you skip things in a musuem because it takes takes too long to read it all, that is not the case here. I enjoyed the seeing the items made...

My son's team had a few hours to kill between games so we took in the TPM. It was interesting though small. The photo ops with the kids in the striped shirts and in the cell made it a hoot!
Very interesting museum and was only $4 for adults to enter. Gives you a look at the past and the present information regarding the prison system. Also, had many old "tools" that were once used in the Texas prisons (i.e. shackles, weapons, electric chair, etc.).
Amazing place. A must see. I came down here for a few days and wanted to check out a tourest attraction.
