We took a day trip from Madrid to the town of Aranjuez and we were glad we did. The palace was beautiful and similar to the royal palace in Madrid in some respects. Of particular interest was the Arab room, the display of royal wedding gowns, and the Royal Boat House which was a short walk from the palace itself.... More

The Palace was very well presented with luxurious interiors. Of special interest was the display of royal wedding dresses. The Palace in Aranjuez was the spring palace of the Spanish royal family until Isabel II. It was begun by Philip II but really didn't get to be the grand Versailles knock off it is today until Philip V got his hands on it. When Carlos II brought porcelain manufacturing from Naples to the Buen Retiro, the Palace became the... More

I have been here with a friend. We did not do the guided tour as we wanted to be more flexible. We had the entry ticket at EUR 4,50 each and bought aditionally an audio guide which really can be recommended. For each room you get interesting information and you can really imagine how the reys used to live.
