A gorgeous historic mansion that houses an art gallery, sculpture gardens, a planetarium and a children's museum. One stop family enjoyment!

Enjoyed the Christmas lunch and getting to sit with two Midlanders since my two guests were from Hobbs and I was from Andrews and we were new to the area. My granddaughter loves this place, especially the Children's Museum section.

The museum is on the grounds of a beautiful old estate and one of the prettiest places in town. They have revolving art shows and a nice childrens museum, plus a planetarium on the grounds.

In September, the Museum hosts a festival on it's grounds. This is a great opportunity to go in and see the museum. For a donation, you can look at classical and modern art, many artists are Western U.S., Western themed, and oil themed.

It has been awhile since I have been to the Museum but I enjoyed it immensely when my children and I went with their school for a special cultural event.

The Museum of the Southwest is primarily an art museum. It hosts traveling exhibits and permanent exhibits. There is also a planetarium and the Fredda Turner Durham Childrens' Museum which is a very cool kid friendly museum housed in a separate building on the grounds. During summer there are free Sunday afternoon lawn concerts on the museum grounds featuring a... More
