I had been to Big Bend National Park several times, but had no idea how beautiful the state park next door was. The drive from Lajitas to Presidio was rated by National Geographic (at one point) the #1 most scenic drive in the US. I'm just sad I hadn't discovered this sooner. We had a great time at an abandoned... More

We had a great time at the "Big Bend Ranche State Park". We stayed in the "Big house" which is really nice furnished. You brought our own food and used the fully equipped kitchen. There are several activities and we choose the horseback riding as we only stayed for one night / two days. We had loved to stay longer!

We spend a week camping in BB State Park in early spring this year. We were tent camping and even they got rain in past it is a desert so it was very dusty. We came to do mountain biking and we were very pleased. Park was almost empty and we had views and trail/roads for ourselves. Trails are well... More

You need a truck to travel these roads, dirt roads, lots of bumps, not enough signs. The scenery is beautiful, rugged, without any amenities. Nice people at the Ranger Station,

They say bring two spares and do they mean it! This place is awesome to say the least. In the heart of the Chihuahuan Desert with mountains everywhere for some unbelieveable vistas. If you go call Blaine Hall and ask him to take you on a tour. I promise you will never forget it. It's 27 miles on a dirt/gravel... More

The majority of my review of this area can be found in Lajitas Stables review- But a short excerpt is this- Gorgeous, but rugged country we rode approx 12 miles across this land and into the mountains within, and amazing is all i can say! This park is 260,000+ acres of virtually untouched, and distinctly underused land, and although many... More

I love going to Big Bend. I feel like I am painted into a western. No cell phones; no cable; no loud noise. And the scenery is amazing. Hike a trail. Go to hear Victor the singing Mexican. Walk the boarder of Mexico. Take a side trip to Terlingua for the day. The park houses lodging. But the rooms are... More

It is a younger and more wild, if slightly understated, sibling of Big Bend National Park. Only recently made into a park, much of it remaIns unaccessible except to the most intrepid backpackers. Go for the sunsets and the desert walks, and the beautiful drive on River Road. And definitely check out the Closed Canyon hike, which is short but... More

Strange because everybody kept telling us we shouldn't visit the main art of the Ranch because the entry road (20 plus miles) was too rough and would ruin our tires. So we took their advice and did not go into the main part of the park, rather visited the parts accessible from the highway between Lajitas and Presidio. (This drive... More

We only spent one night, but I was instantly in love with this Park and the Ranch! It was a pleasant surprise after an extremely arduous 26-mile rock road. We only had time for one hike, but would recommend this area to anyone. I understand you can also go horseback riding, for a fee. We saw numerous wildlife and it... More
