If you have time while visiting Monument Valley or places north in Utah, stop by this unique place where you will see and learn about "embedded meandering" rivers. The sight is like nothing you will ever see. It is not a destination in itself but you shouldn't miss it if you are within thirty miles of it. Nearby Mexican Hat... More

I visited 'Goosenecks' SP on my way north from Monument Valley, to a Monticello night-stop, as part of my month-long tour of the Utah/Arizona natural attractions last year. As I had come from the north-west the previous day, via the magnificent 'Muley Point Overlook' and 'Moki Dugway' on Highway 261 (see my reviews and later comments), I had not only... More

I saw this place on the internet and had to see if for myself! It is the neatest place out in the middle of nowhere! Beautiful. And the state park offers primitive camping if you would like to camp right here on the rim. We were traveling from Moab, Utah down to the south rim of the Grand Canyon. I... More

If you happen to be heading north from Monument Valley there is really no reason why you should not go visit this park. It is a very easy 5 minute drive on a well maintained road heading east from 261 about 5 miles north of Mexican Hat. There is not much to the park beyond the main parking lot at... More

Not much to do here for the casual visitor other than to take in the grand view of the "Goosenecks" from the vista point. If you want good photos, don't go in the afternoon as the afternoon sun will stare right into your lens. Then you will have to wait for sunset. Of course, you will need a really wide... More

From the UK and on a trip around North AZ, we were travelling from Chinle to Monument Valley and had already driven the Valley of the Gods road and been suitably gob-smacked! I noticed Goosenecks on the map and we decided to take a look as we were in no rush. The turning is off 261 about 3-4 miles south... More

Most of the people visiting the area miss this attraction out. This is probably the reason I like it since it is seldom over crowded. Really worth the short detour and accessible by nearly all kind of vehicles.

The other reviews speak to the beauty of this place. Let's talk price for a second, though. You want inexpensive accommodations near Monument Valley? This is about as inexpensive as it gets: zero dollars. If you have an RV/trailer (or even if you're tent camping), and you're in the region to see Monument Valley/Arches/Canyonlands, I wouldn't pass this up. Not... More

You've seen the pictures but in person you can't help but keep asking yourself how it's possible that this river made these sharp turns and left behind this incredible scenery. I mean honestly, it's astonishing! It's FREE to get into the park and only a half hour drive from Monument Valley. I'm not sure why TA says it's in Blanding... More

We travelled across the USA on a tour organised by Great Rail Journeys of York between the 7th and 27th October 2009. Great Rails took us on a coach from Durango to Flagstaff. We went via Cortez, Bluff (for a rest stop) and to Gooseneck Canyon which is an undiscovered treasure. Just off Highway 95, you can see from a... More
