I was in Cache Valley, Utah on business and decided to drive along the Logan Canyon Scenic Byway early one morning to see the sunrise over Bear Lake. It was worth the effort. The beauty here rivals anything you will see anywhere in the country. I shot some video for those interested. [--] more
My girlfriend and I stopped to see Bear Lake in Idaho and Utah on Sep 8, 2007. The water was clean and had a beautiful turquoise and blue color. There are several free beaches on the lake with entrances that are unmarked turnoffs from the surrounding highways. Only the state park at Rondezvous Beach in Utah charged an admission fee.... more
When visiting the Bear Lake area I highly reccomend this short hike to 3 small alpine lakes. Drive north to Bloomington, turn left at the Post Office, Bloomington Canyon Road. While there are boating activities in this lake which is half in Utah and half in Idaho, it's the color which is so striking. It's a very beautiful aqua-blue color set against a treeless mountain range on the lake's eastern side.
