We hiked to The Wave mid-day; very hot and barren with little shade. The six mile round trip hike is worth it to see The Wave. We won the permit lottery (https://www.blm.gov/az/asfo/paria/coyote_buttes/permits.htm), so we didn't have to visit the ranger station. We received directions in the mail before our trip. The Wave is an amazing place located in the Vermillion Cliffs National Monument along the Arizona-Utah border. It is actually in Arizona, however, the Wire Pass trailhead for the hike is in Utah.
