I love the construction here; the drive to reach it is along Route 5; but back when this was built, transportation was along the River. Views are great and gardens in Spring are very nice indeed.

Only the grounds are open, but well worth the visit.

Although we knew the home was not open for tours, we went to see the gardens. That was a disappointment. Shrubs were overgrown and needed trimming. Its only $2 for the tour, but it wasn’t worth the time to drive out there.

My daughters and I toured the James River Plantations. Our last stop was Westover. We saved the best for last. Although no one provides the tour, we enjoyed it more because we could wander. The house is not open to the public, but the grounds are and they are worth the stop.
