Even though it was a rainy and cold spring day, we loved visited Monticello. The curators do an excellent job of presenting Jefferson's life on the plantation. There are good audio visual exhibits, as well as the tour of the home. The only negative was that our guide seemed to be on a tight schedule, as he was constantly looking... More

Get there early so you do not have to wait for house tour. Definitely take free Slave tour and Garden tour. You can do these if you have a long wait for house tour

A must see for all history buffs.  The tour guide we had was wonderful.  She was very sweet and very knowledgeable about the history of Monticello.  We were actually her first tour!  Whenever she did not know the answer to one of our group's questions, she would find out for us. The grounds were nice, but Monticello was what I... More

One certainly gets a powerful insight into the character, lifestyle and what this statesman had on early American life. After you purchase your tickeet, check out the Visitor Centre before boarding the mini train to the mansion. You are given a tour by very knowledgeable staff and visitors are touring from different parts of the world. Once you do a... More

Beautiful trees and grounds are worth getting there early to walk around before your tour. Amazing to see trees so old and look at the Tulip Poplar stumps near the rear of the house. Our tour included the up stairs which isn't much, is unairconditioned and the stairs are an accident waiting to happen. Lovely entrance with a nice but... More

Visited Monticello last week. The day was beautiful. The views of the Blue Ridge Mountains were breathtaking. From the visitors centre, we received a ticket for the next available tour of Jefferson's house. We didn't have long to wait as the tours are scheduled 10 minutes apart. The guide was very knowledgeable. Their were lots of people so no time... More

Lovely home; everyone should visit at least once. Learned a lot about Thomas Jefferson that I didn't know before.

I'm not one for historic 'stuff' but felt compelled to see Monticello. So glad we went - what a great tour! Only paid for the downstairs and don't feel like I missed a thing. Very informative, interesting and I never realized what a genius Thomas Jefferson was! His gardens were amazing! I enjoyed walking through them more than anything!
