Our first visit to Monticello was excellent! Beautiful house and grounds in early October with fall leaves and blooming flowers at the same time! Interesting facts and great tour guides made our morning trip memorable. The site has been well kept; hopefully, this will continue for others to enjoy. Monticello is a treat any time of the year. In the spring, the blooming trees and flowers catch your breath as you drive up the mountain to the home of Thomas Jefferson just south of Charlottesville. The weather is usually quite comfortable in April through June. Wear your walking shoes and prepare to spend some time looking at his estate.... more

I learned a lot about Thomas Jefferson during this visit. I knew he was an intelligent man, but didn't know he had such elegant taste. I love the 1/2 octogon of the rooms. All his rooms are bright. Monticello is a building so familiar in appearance that the reality is pleasantly surprising. Visitors start at the Visitor's Center, paying for the entrance ticket and getting a specific tour time.
