Everyone is smiling and friendly and there's always a great variety of music. It'll inspire you to get up and dance!
Flat footing at its finest! Arrive early if you require a seat as they are limited. This is an old "Country Store" and they do have things for sale. Even ice cream! Enjoy an evening in downtown Floyd listening to mountain music in the store, and along the sidewalks. I'm a lifetime local & I love my one stoplight hometown!
Step inside the Floyd Country Store and you take a step back in time. Barrels filled with Bit-O-Honey and other wrapped candies are particularly fun, but there's plenty of other stock items that will entice you. Also has nice area of clothing and too, blue grass music CDs. You can grab lunch...albeit limited in selection. Plenty of good desserts though!... More
The Friday night jamboree is an authentic blue grass experience that is appropriate for couples, friends, or family. It can be crowded, so get there early if you want a seat. T
Friday night is THE night. Bluegrass, gospel, and mountain music. There is only space for 100 people (give or take) and what you get is rustic, genuine performers playing for a knowledgeable, happy audience. Check the times. There is a bit of food, including dessert. There is stuff to buy, but what is unusual is the CD's.
a day in the mountains, stopped at Floyd Country Store hoping to eat lunch. Six wall mounted tables, all full, carry out available, extremely busy for carry out. Did not see a waitress. One guy playing a guitar on stage. Town not crowded. I would assume the best time to visit is on Friday evening when everyone gets together and... More
We travelled to Floyd again, of course attending the Friday night jamboree at the C ountry Store. Now it is crowded, but a good, wholesome night of entertainment. Gospel music first, then 2 other bluegrass bands after that. I good place to watch people with the flatfooting dancing, and square dancing. Everyone is welcome to join in the dancing. Also... More
Sooo crowded but always fun to see and try flat footing with locals and tourists like us. The bands were good, not great, but that didn't bother us. It is one of the most entertaining experiences anywhere for bluegrass fans!
We were in the Blue Ridge Mountains and staying n Meadows of Dan, so we hopped over to the Friday night music jam in Floyd. There were locals playing banjo, guitar, etc. and singing together in the Barber Shop. There was (at the same time) music of the same type (Bluegrass)on a stage in the Country Store. For a ticket... We happened upon the Country Store on a Friday night. Some of the best music I have ever heard was in the store as well as on the sidewalk. Interesting gifts in the store and tasty treats Best of all this is something the entire family can enjoy together.
