This 1735 Anglican church built by King Carter is well maintained and still active today. Excellent visitors center and charming docent guide.
As an architect I find the simple beauty of this building remarkable. Probably built by slaves and indentured servants,the details are in the brickwork. Christmas time is unfortunately the time when most historic sites are closed. Just wandering around the site of the church gave us a good feel of what it must have been like for the early settlers. We visited several other old churches with lots of history.
