The gardens alone at Oatlands Plantation are worth the price of admission. Over 4 acres of landscaped gardens make for a delightful hour of enjoying the flowers, trees, and views. Each terrace provides new delights, whether a yew lined walkway or a garden fountain. It is a great spot for picture taking, and if you are a horticulture enthusiast, be... More

I guess I am the odd person out, as all of the previous reviewers have given Oatlands either a 4 or 5 star rating. I must say that the outside of the house is very impressive, and is what led us to visit. Most of the plantation houses in Virginia are Georgian homes, and Oatlands started out as a Georgian... More

Beautiful plantation! The grounds and gardens are lovely. I didn't have a chance to go inside the house yet, which means I will have to go back. A great way to spend an afternoon.

Oatlands is a lovely little home, but the best part was the pleasant, knowledgeable guide, Benita. She made the families come alive with tidbits of their history. The grounds are beautiful, even when not in full bloom, something is colorful. The terraces are an interesting variation in plantings.

I had a friend visiting from Norfolk and she suggested visiting Oatlands. I had no idea how truly interesting the history of Oatlands is....the Carter family (as in King Carter family of Virginia) and the Eustis family. As much as I was interested in the history of the families, it was the terraced gardens which were truly amazing! The day... More

We visited the Oatlands Planatation and had a very nice time. We had a great tour guide by the name of Jim. Jim was very knowledgable about the home and the history of the families who lived here. We would have stayed here longer if they had a cafe. That is the only drawback. If there was a cafe that... More

I always enjoy a visit to Oatlands. Living close by I attend many events there. For Fairfax County residents it is a part of our history.

I really enjoyed the tour of the mansion. The gardens and grounds were kept up really nice. I loved the gift shop, in the old stables, and was stocked with plenty of well priced merchandise.

Oatlands has special events available throughout the year -I have enjoyed several, and this past Hallowe'en they had one in the evening. It was a tour of the mansion with some of its "supernatural" history revealed. It was definitely fun! If you're not looking to be freaked out, but would enjoy some Hallowe'en stories - this is a presentation worth... More
